A HUGE welcome to all new and returning students – we hope that you are finding your feet and settling in quickly.
There’s so much to take in when you first start college, whether you’re a school leaver or returning to study, so please feel free to come in and ask us lots of questions! We’re in the Norwich building, straight in front of you as you enter via main reception.
The Information Store map:
As you’ll see from the image below, the Information Store is made up of different rooms, or zones.
The first area that you enter via the lobby from main reception is where our helpdesk is, marked with an “i” on the map. This is where the majority of the PCs are, the printers, the self service machine, plus magazines, newspapers and journals. There is also a comfy seating area, and a small selection of our fiction books. We also sell a small range of stationery and stamps.
The area on the far left of the map is the Book Zone. Here you’ll find books for your course, as well as fiction books (on the shelves at 823.92) and books on careers. There are two PCs in the Book Zone that are logged into the library catalogue to help you find the shelf number of the book you need, but please ask if you’re not sure.
On the right of the main area you will see two further rooms. The room at the top of the map is called the Study Zone. Here you will find more PCs, as well as individual study areas where you can plug inlaptops / tablets. This area is for individual and group work.
The other room is the Silent Study Zone. There are more PCs and individual study areas for students who prefer to study in silence – no headphones in here please.
The area marked in blue on the map is the Wellbeing Zone – this is where our Wellbeing Adviser and counsellors can be found.
As you can see, there is a lot to take in, so please feel free to ask us, we’re happy to help. We will regularly update this blog with library news and events, as well as book and film reviews, so be sure to follow us.
