Ursula Le Guin

21st October 1929-

Science fiction and fantasy author Ursula Le Guin originally denied filmmakers the rights to her novels, believing no-one would be able to recreate her stories faithfully on film. That changed when she saw My Neighbour Totoro, the 1988 animated film by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. Miyazaki’s son Goro directed Tales from Earthsea, based on the first book in Le Guin’s Earthsea series, in 2006. Find the inspirational (and adorable) Totoro in the DVD LOBBY
